Not Just Manage It

Expert Trauma Therapy in the Boston Area

Serving Boston, Brookline, Cambridge & Surrounding MA communities

You’re Exhausted From Just Getting Through the Day

Maybe you’ve tried therapy before. You’ve talked about what happened. You understand why you feel this way. But nothing has actually changed. The flashbacks still come. The triggers still derail you. You still don’t feel safe in your own body.

You wonder if you’re broken. If this is just how life will be now.

Here’s the truth: You deserve to feel safe. You deserve to heal and not just cope. What happened to you wasn’t your fault, and carrying this pain forever shouldn’t be your life sentence.

Regular therapy isn’t designed for trauma. That’s why it hasn’t worked.

Types of Trauma

We Specialize in Treating Every Type of Trauma

Repeated trauma over time especially in childhood or relationships where escape wasn't possible. Childhood abuse or neglect, domestic violence, growing up with addiction in the family, parentification, unstable housing.

How it shows up: Difficulty trusting, feeling "broken," emotional dysregulation, relationship patterns that repeat, deep shame, chronic emptiness, difficulty setting boundaries.

Our approach: We integrate EMDR, IFS, and somatic therapy to rebuild your sense of safety, identity, and worth from the ground up. IFS helps heal protective parts while somatic therapy addresses trauma stored in your body.

Any unwanted sexual experience like rape, assault, childhood sexual abuse, coercion, harassment, sex trafficking, or online exploitation.

How it shows up: Shame, self-blame, difficulty with intimacy, feeling "dirty," hypervigilance, dissociation during physical touch, avoiding relationships, difficulty setting boundaries.

Our approach: Safe, judgment-free space. EMDR reprocesses traumatic memories, IFS works with protective parts, and somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body. You don't have to describe every detail to heal.

Traumatic experiences during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or infant loss. Emergency C-sections, NICU stays, pregnancy loss, medical complications, not being listened to by medical staff.

How it shows up: Intrusive memories of birth, anxiety about future pregnancies, difficulty bonding with baby, feeling like you "failed," unresolved grief, fear of medical settings.

Our approach: EMDR processes the traumatic experience, somatic therapy addresses physical helplessness, and IFS works with parts carrying shame or grief. Your experience matters even if "everyone's fine now."

Cumulative harm from racism, discrimination, and race-based violence. Direct discrimination, microaggressions, police violence threats, workplace racism, being the "only one," systemic oppression, witnessing harm to your community.

How it shows up: Hypervigilance in white spaces, constant anticipation of harm, exhaustion from code-switching, never feeling fully safe, physical health impacts, anger and grief.

Our approach: As a POC female-founded practice, we understand from lived experience. EMDR processes specific incidents, somatic therapy addresses chronic stress in your body, IFS works with protective parts. We acknowledge ongoing systemic harm while helping you build resilience.

Early experiences with caregivers that disrupted safety and connection, plus betrayal by people you trusted. Emotional neglect, inconsistent caregiving, adoption disruption, emotionally absent parents, intimate partner violence, infidelity, gaslighting.

How it shows up: Difficulty in relationships, fear of abandonment or engulfment, not knowing who you are outside relationships, feeling unworthy of love, sabotaging healthy relationships, trust issues.

Our approach: EMDR processes betrayal and early wounds, IFS works with parts carrying attachment pain, somatic therapy helps your nervous system learn secure attachment. We help you develop the secure attachment you didn't experience as a child.

Your mind disconnecting to protect you from overwhelming experiences. DID, OSDD, depersonalization, derealization, dissociative amnesia, spacing out, "losing time."

How it shows up: Feeling detached from yourself, time loss, not remembering periods of time, feeling like you're watching your life from outside, switching between emotional states, feeling like multiple "people" inside.

Our approach: Specific training in dissociation. Modified EMDR, IFS for working with parts or alters, somatic therapy for staying present. We help you build capacity to stay grounded first, then process trauma at a tolerable pace.

Discrimination, violence, or systemic oppression based on your identity. LGBTQ+ discrimination, conversion therapy, ableism, religious persecution, immigration trauma, fatphobia, being fired or rejected due to identity.

How it shows up: Hiding parts of yourself to stay safe, internalized shame, hypervigilance in public spaces, chronic stress from discrimination, grief over lost relationships.

Our approach: Diverse, inclusive, affirming staff. EMDR processes specific incidents, somatic therapy addresses chronic stress, IFS heals internalized shame. We acknowledge ongoing systemic realities while helping you heal.

Traumatic experiences with medical procedures, illness, hospitalization, or healthcare system. Life-threatening illness, painful procedures, surgery complications, medical gaslighting, chronic illness, being restrained.

How it shows up: Fear of doctors/hospitals, avoiding needed care, intrusive memories of procedures, panic attacks in medical settings, not trusting medical professionals.

Our approach: EMDR reprocesses traumatic medical memories, somatic therapy addresses physical helplessness and reconnects you with your body, IFS works with parts terrified of medical settings. We help you get the care you need without overwhelming anxiety.

One specific traumatic event that continues to impact you. Car accidents, physical assault, witnessing violence, natural disasters, sudden loss, near-death experiences.

How it shows up: Flashbacks to the event, avoiding reminders, nightmares, feeling like it's happening again when triggered, hypervigilance, intense anxiety.

Our approach: Single-incident trauma often responds well to EMDR. Many clients see significant improvement within several months. EMDR helps your brain file the memory as "past" so it no longer triggers you.

Witnessing, hearing about, or treating others' trauma repeatedly. First responders, healthcare workers, therapists, journalists, child protective services, domestic violence advocates, caregivers.

How it shows up: Nightmares about others' trauma, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, difficulty separating work from personal life, burnout, physical symptoms.

Our approach: EMDR processes vicarious traumatic images, somatic therapy addresses chronic stress, IFS works with overwhelmed or shut-down parts. We help you maintain healthy boundaries while preserving your ability to care.

What Healing Looks Like

When you work with trauma specialists who use EMDR, IFS, and somatic therapy, your life changes.

You stop just surviving. You start thriving.

  • Wake up without immediately scanning for threats
  • Ground yourself quickly when triggered instead of spiraling
  • Trust people without waiting for them to hurt you
  • Feel safe in your own body
  • Have relationships that don’t repeat old patterns
  • Experience emotions without being overwhelmed
  • Think about what happened without it destroying your day
  • Sleep through the night
  • Feel present in your life

This level of healing is possible with specialized trauma treatment.

EMDR
Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer control you. Trauma gets "stuck" in raw form. EMDR helps your brain file it as "past."

Internal Family
Systems (IFS)

We all have different "parts" like the part that pushes people away, the part that people-pleases, the part that shut down to survive. IFS helps you understand, heal, and integrate these parts. Especially powerful for complex trauma and dissociation.

Somatic
Therapy

Trauma lives in your body. Somatic therapy releases trauma held physically and helps your nervous system learn it's safe now. We use body-based techniques to help you regulate emotions and feel grounded.
