Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Cabrera Tineo is a post-doctoral psychology fellow, who completed her doctoral studies in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albany – State University of New York. She received her undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice – City University of New York. She completed pre-doctoral trainings at:

  • Albany Stratton VA Medical Center
  • Albany Medical Center Hospital
  • Capital District Psychiatric Center
  • Saint Rose College
  • Union College
  • Psychological Services Center

Dr. Cabrera Tineo is also an active researcher with several peer-reviewed publications on issues regarding multiculturalism, mental health, and health risk behaviors among emerging adults and marginalized populations, but not exclusively.

I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and therapeutic environment, where you can be comfortable being yourself and sharing your story. I am interested in getting to know you and helping you achieve your goals—whether it be in regards to learning specific coping strategies to effectively navigate the college experience or beginning your healing journey by processing past traumatic experiences. I am here to assist you in implementing positive change in your life by helping you better understand your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

I have worked in a variety of health settings ranging from community mental health to college counseling, private, state, and federal hospitals. My diverse training and experience have reinforced the importance of taking a holistic approach to therapy and exploring how different aspects of life (e.g., relationships, work, physical health, etc.) may be affecting your overall wellbeing. As such, I work collaboratively with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your specific needs and goals.
